FB2 to ePub converter
Drop an FB2 file here and get the same book as an ePub.
The conversion runs in your browser. The file never leaves your device, and nothing is kept when you close this page.
No file chosen yet.
What the converter keeps
The text and its structure: each top-level section of the book becomes a chapter, nested sections become headings inside it, and the table of contents is built from the section titles. Footnotes become real ePub footnotes. Pictures stored inside the FB2 file become image files again, the cover is marked as the cover, and the title, author, language, annotation, genre and series name are carried into the ePub metadata.
The result is an ePub 3 file with the older NCX contents list as well, so it opens in current readers and in older ones. Amazon's Send to Kindle accepts ePub, so the converted book can go to a Kindle that way.
What it cannot do
FB2 carries no fonts, colours or page layout, so the ePub has none either; a reader applies its own. A complex table may render plainly. An element the converter does not recognise is kept as plain text, never dropped, and the summary says how many there were.
If you are not sure what you are holding, what an FB2 file is explains the format. To see what the converter produced, open the result in the ePub inspector.
The sample is a short book written for this page and is free to use for anything. It has a cover, two chapters, a poem, a table and two footnotes, so it exercises every part of the conversion.
